I was raised to believe that strength meant silence, that grace was found in endurance. But over time, I learned that true grace is in understanding. I have lived through hospitals that forgot names, reports that spoke in probabilities, and months that moved slower than hope. Yet, through it all, I never stopped asking why.
That question 'why' has built every part of me. It has shaped my science, my empathy, and my pursuit of truth. I am not driven by ambition alone; I am driven by clarity. I want to know why diseases choose their hosts, why cells turn against their own, and why some people survive the impossible.
Outside the clinic and the lab, I am the same, endlessly curious, quietly observant, sometimes stubbornly hopeful. I find solace in writing, in the small rituals of order, in understanding the anatomy of stories as much as the anatomy of people.
My name is Dr. Anusha {nicknamed as Alena :)}, and I believe science is most powerful when it’s personal.
I began my journey in dentistry, but somewhere between the clinic and the lab, I found myself drawn to the unseen stories written in our cells — the ones that decide who heals, who suffers, and why.
In 2022, when my grandmother was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma of the thyroid, I stopped viewing oncology as a distant specialty. It became a language I needed to understand. Watching her battle a cancer so rare that even textbooks had few words for it changed how I approached science — not as a field, but as a calling.
Since then, my academic path has been shaped by that single, intimate encounter with uncertainty and resilience. From clinical rotations across prosthodontics, oral pathology, and surgery, to overseeing autopsies and studying tumor morphology, I’ve learned that medicine is not just about intervention — it’s about interpretation. About learning how to listen to the body when it speaks in silence.
I’m now channeling my training and curiosity into oncology and craniofacial sciences, exploring how molecular mechanisms can redefine both treatment and recovery. My academic work reflects a blend of clinical precision and human depth — I study not only the disease, but the life that carries it.
This blog is a continuation of that pursuit. A space where I share research, reflections, and resources — especially for patients and families navigating the same uncertainty my own once did.
Because at the heart of it, my story began with one person’s illness. But my purpose now is to make sure others find clarity, care, and courage in theirs.
